1907: Passive Resistance in the Transvaal

The Autonomous Government of Transvaal declared a policy that “required registration and fingerprinting of all Asians.” In response, Mohandas Gandhi led 10,000 Indian residents to protest against this. He instituted a popular policy of protest marches and civil disobedience.
