Katangua Market, Days, Photos | What You Should Know

Have you been lied to that you find a lot of goods in this market in cheap prices, about 50 per cent compared to the main city? So, many people travel all the way from the Island to Katangua market to buy cheap wear while some also do this for business. How does the market look like?

This is Kantagua market in Abule Egba, Lagos state. It is said that goods are extremely cheap in this market to the extent of getting a good worth 10, 000 naira for about 1,500 naira!

Located in the Abule Egba/Iyana Ipaja area, Katangua Market, also known as “bend down select,” is a vibrant center of commerce. Here, you can find genuine secondhand goods, including underwear, clothing, kitchen utensils, and various household items, all at incredibly low prices.

Here I am in the market to confirm these claims!

We moved from one place to another pricing goods to confirm the prices of these wears compared to the city.

These are the facts about Katangua market:

  • They don’t use the pedestrian bridge in Katangua, so crazy!
You can find it so crazy, yes.
    People abandon the bridge and
    rather cross the main road.
This is one of the things you will notice in the market.
This also adds to the busyness of the market.

I keep on asking people while are not using the bridge but nobody answer us. I was therefore scared to use the bridge. But guess what, it is just abandoned, according to a man in the market. You can find it weird, but this is what it is.

  • Not all goods are cheap! You may thing you are travelling down to this place to get your cheap goods, but no all goods are cheap.
Depends on the day. There are market days and normal days, if you go on normal days, you may not be able to get any cheap goods, except you go on market days.

To get the accurate market days, kindly ask the locals as there is no one to accurately answer this question. Some suggest Thursdays while some say it’s in five days.

  • These are used products! Some many people think it’s so cheap and the products are new. No! These are worn clothes, what you call Okrika or used clothes. A pairs of jean sells for about 4, 000 naira here.
After getting your goods, you have to take them home, and do the normal rewash. There are other god bags for ladies, not cheap as well probably today is not a market day.

Before you visit Kantagua, make sure you ask every detail so you don’t get mad when you get to the market. Ask of the market day, try and communicate with anyone around to make enquiry about the goods you want to get.

This is the second big market I have visited in Lagos so far!
