Kinship Conservation Fellowship 2025: Applications Now Open

The Kinship Conservation Fellowship is inviting applications for its 2025 program. Designed to support conservation practitioners globally, the Fellowship aims to enhance professional growth, providing participants with advanced skills, insights, and analytical tools to drive impactful conservation projects.

Kinship Conservation Fellowship Details

This intensive, month-long, in-residence program will take place from June 29 to July 29, 2025, at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, USA. The Fellowship emphasizes market-based solutions to environmental challenges, offering an interactive learning environment with a focus on leadership development.

Fellows will engage in:

  • Discussions and peer-learning sessions
  • Systems-thinking exercises
  • Practical applications of innovative solutions

The curriculum is led by global experts and tailored to the specific needs of each year’s cohort, incorporating the six Kinship Conservation Fellowship Pillars:

  1. Leading Adaptively
  2. Iterating for Scale
  3. Designing for Governing the Commons
  4. Identifying an Economic Engine
  5. Financing Conservation
  6. Evaluating for Impact

Benefits

Fellows will receive a stipend of $8,000 for their participation, subject to U.S. tax deductions. Non-U.S. citizens will experience a 30% withholding, resulting in a net payment of approximately $5,600 (subject to applicable tax laws). Fellows are responsible for managing their own local, state, or federal taxes.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a four-year U.S. college degree or equivalent.
  • Possess a minimum of five years of relevant work experience after completing their degree.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Be conservation practitioners (not academics or researchers).

Selection Process

Applications will be evaluated on:

  • The feasibility and relevance of the proposed project.
  • The applicant’s leadership potential.
  • Their anticipated contribution to the program and ongoing involvement in the Fellows Community.

How to Apply

Applications must be completed and submitted by 11:59 PM CST on January 12, 2025. Recommendation letters must be uploaded by referees no later than January 19, 2025.
