Program Details

The U.S. Department of State and IREX are searching for experts tolook over applications for the 2025 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. This Fellowship provides young leaders with academic and leadership training in the U.S., fostering collaboration, economic growth, democratic governance, and security between Africa and the U.S.

Reviewers will assess around 50 applications, adhering to specific guidelines and scoring criteria. This volunteer role is an excellent opportunity for professional development and résumé enhancement for academics, professionals, or students.

Eligibility:

  • Age: 25-35 years old by the application deadline (exceptional candidates aged 21-24 may be considered)
  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in English (support available for deaf applicants)
  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of an eligible African country
  • Non-Discrimination Policy: Open to all, regardless of race, color, gender, religion, socioeconomic status, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity
