Are you passionate about life sciences and eager to make a global impact? Hokkaido University is offering an exceptional opportunity to pursue fully-funded MEXT Scholarships through its International Graduate Program (IGP) for master’s and doctoral studies starting in October 2025.
Funded by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), this program is part of the “Life Science Researcher Training Program for Solving Global Issues” and is designed to train future leaders in life sciences.

Scholarship Benefits
The program provides:
- Monthly stipend: 145,000 JPY for doctoral students and 144,000 JPY for master’s students.
- Tuition waiver: Complete exemption from tuition fees.
- Travel support: Coverage of travel expenses to and from Japan.

Eligibility
The program seeks highly motivated individuals with a strong academic foundation in life sciences and a desire to contribute to global problem-solving. Only five doctoral students and three master’s students will be selected.
How to Apply
- Explore Research Areas: Review the list of participating laboratories and identify a professor whose research aligns with your interests.
- Contact a Potential Supervisor: Reach out to your chosen professor to discuss your research goals and suitability for the scholarship. Contact them no later than December 6, 2024.
- Submit Your Application: Once a professor agrees to supervise you, gather and submit all necessary documents, such as application forms, recommendation letters, and academic records, by December 20, 2024.
