Getting into college is always exciting, but the University of Cincinnati made it even more special for five high school seniors this year. These students were surprised with their acceptance letters, scholarships, and a full celebration.

Who Got Surprised?
The university surprised five students from three Cincinnati high schools:
- Oliver Tiani Vessah (Withrow High School) – Full-ride Marian Spencer Scholarship
- Harsh Minhas (Withrow High School) – Full-ride Marian Spencer Scholarship
- Owen Herzog (La Salle High School) – $12,000 in scholarships
- Nick Kolbinsky (La Salle High School) – $6,000 in scholarships
- Jamiyah Turnage (North College Hill High School) – $7,000 in scholarships
Record-Breaking Applications
This year, more than 30,000 people applied to the University of Cincinnati—the highest number ever. There was also a big increase in applications from Black and Latinx students.
A High-Tech Welcome
Along with in-person surprises, the university used AI to create personalized welcome videos for all accepted students. This way, everyone could feel the excitement of Decision Day, no matter where they were.
Vice Provost Jack Miner said these celebrations help highlight the bright future of Cincinnati’s students and leaders.
