Master Research Programme in Informatics for Climate Change 2024/2025
Université Joseph KI-ZERBO, Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is inviting applications for its Master Research Programme in Informatics for Climate Change (MRP-ICC) for the 2024/2025 academic session. This program is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) through WASCAL.
Eligibility For WASCAL Master Research Scholarship
To apply, you must:
- Have a BSc degree (second class upper division) or equivalent in fields like Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Health Sciences, Meteorology, Climate Science, Geography, Biological Sciences, Geoscience, Environmental Sciences, Economics, Agriculture, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronic Engineering.
- Be a citizen of a WASCAL member country.
- Have proficiency in English (preferred).
Programme Duration
The program lasts two years. The first year includes courses and research planning. In the second year, you’ll conduct research for 6-9 months and complete your thesis and internships with relevant organizations.
The 24-month program includes:
- Preparatory Phase: Four months of language courses (English for French/Portuguese speakers in Ghana, and French for English speakers in Togo).
- Lectures: 14 months of courses over three semesters at Université Joseph KI-ZERBO.
- Research Proposal Preparation: Concurrent with lectures.
- Internship/Field/Research Work: Four months focusing on topics aligned with WASCAL’s mission.
- Thesis Write-Up and Defense: Two months.
Scholarship and Research Support For WASCAL Master Research Scholarship
WASCAL offers scholarships to selected students, covering:
- Monthly stipend for accommodation and living expenses.
- University fees.
- Research budget.
- Personal laptop on loan.
Master’s Research Programme in Marine Sciences 2024/2025
Atlantic Technical University (UTA) is calling for applications for its Master’s Research Programme on Climate Change & Marine Sciences (MRPCCMS) for the 2024-2025 academic year. Scholarships are available for at least 12 out of 24 selected students.
Eligibility
To apply, you must:
- Be a citizen of a WASCAL member country (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea Conakry, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, The Gambia, or Togo). Other ECOWAS member countries may be admitted as self-funded students.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in fields like Biological Sciences, Oceanography, Fishing or Livestock Engineering, Geography, or Atmospheric Sciences.
- Have at least an intermediate level of English.
Details: WASCAL Master Research Scholarship
The program includes:
- Four months of language courses (English for French/Portuguese speakers in Ghana, and French for English speakers in Togo).
- Three semesters of courses on marine sciences, coastal management, and climate change at UTA.
- Shipboard training with local or international research vessels for ocean observation and data collection.
- A three-week scientific trip to German partner institutions, if applicable.
Scholarship and Research Support
The top 12 students will receive scholarships and research support, which requires:
- Maintaining a B or higher GPA.
- Developing a detailed research proposal accepted by a faculty committee.
- Regular progress reports and evaluations during the research stage.
