My Experience at Lekki Conservation Centre
When Sabinus visited the Lekki Conservation Centre, man nearly passed out on the canopy walk because he was scared. I thought this was funny as we all know Mr Funny. But wait, if you are hypertensive, this canopy walk is not for you!!
It is fun when you are done with the tour, but having fun on the canopy? No! It’s so scary.
I could not even have a single picture because of fear and when I got to a stable place in between the bridges, I took pictures and then continued. Checking my videos as we walked on the canopy, we were laughing because I was saying a lot of rubbish because of fear, prayer, and asking God for forgiveness if yesterday was going to be my last day and all.
History: Lekki Conservation Centre
The Lekki Conservation Centre was created in 1990 as a place to conserve biodiversity and provide environmental education. Chevron Corporation built the facility for the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) to protect the rich plant and animal life on the Lekki Peninsula. Chevron has continued to fund the centre’s management each year.
Before starting the project, the NCF technical team and the former Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperative surveyed three possible areas in 1987. They chose the Lekki area as the demonstration site for the conservation project.
The project was named after its location on the Lekki Peninsula. The NCF established the centre to protect the wildlife and mangrove forests along Nigeria’s southwestern coastline from the threat of urban development.

Lekki Conservation Centre: My Review and Recommendations
Hello, it’s fun! If you are hypertensive, don’t just use the canopy walk. I recommend you use it halfway, return back to the base and use the normal route. It will seem as if the canopy is not strong. It’s so scary! I’m happy I completed the walk. Dear tourists, go gently, one step at a time, face front, no filming unless you are two so one person films the other during the walk. If anything drops down, it is gone. So keep your stuff with the guard and enjoy! Tourism is hope!
