There are lot of works to do here! This is Owala Lake in Oba Oke, close to Okini, which is few kilometers to Osogbo, in Osun State Nigeria.
Where is Owala Lake?
This place is an unknown tourist attraction. I never heard of this lake before until I got to Osogbo and interacted with some tourists about interesting places to explore in Osun State.
This is where there is the Owala Dam, claimed to the biggest dam in western Nigeria (I never confirm this statement until I visit all major dams in the west). But this lake is the biggest in Osun state.
While this is a very interesting place to visit, it is basically dry and when I got here, I felt that pain of not seeing notable development. I posted this attraction on social media platforms and tagged several government bodies to look into this.

This is the biggest lake I’ve ever seen in Osun. It is twice longer and wider than the Eleyele Lake in Ibadan, yet Eleyele Lake has an entertainment cruise company managing the attraction and hundreds of people visit there every day.
For this attraction to flourish, the road leading to the place all the way from Igbokiti to Oba Oke must be constructed. This is a major challenge to tourists going to this place. It is an empty road, too dry and first time visiting this place may be quite scary.
The management of the attractions needs to introduce some good activities beyond boat ride. Boat cruise is the major activity in this place while exploring the Owala Dam is the biggest exploration.

To have a fun day, the management needs to bring in some things to the lake like horse riding, guides, water body instruments/rides like pedal boats, kayaks and others to make this place more interesting.
This is a very big tourist attraction in Osun State and yet, it is not known. The management itself needs an experienced social media manager that will further create awareness about the attraction.
A lot of things to do to improve this potential economy. Osun is home to many tourist attractions. We have to put hands together and further improve this.
