Bullet Bra: The Underwear for the Sweater Girls in 1940s-1950s

Bullet bra is a bra worn by ladies in the 1940s and 1950s. The bra was invented in the late 1940s; it is a full-support bra with a parabolic cup. A bullet bra was worn to make the shape of a body noticeable.

To show the body curves and shapes of the wearer, a bullet bra is worn with a tight-fitting garment. Its first version was released in 1941.

The bullet bra was recorded to be worn by sweater girls “it is worn by sweater girls and it is used to accentuate bust in the 1950s”.

The 1950s was the time before breast enlargement become rampant and the bullet bra was used to get big looking breasts as the bra will enable the wearer to be busty, and bring out the larger version of the breast.

It is a conical bra that accentuates the bust of the sweater girls. The wearers are called sweater girls because the bra was worn under a tight sweater.

Despite the fact that it was worn under a sweater, the conical bra is good looking when they are worn under a blouse or other dresses. Bullet bra shape is conical. It was invented during wartime, as the 1940s and 1950s witnessed different World War II which brought about the name “bullet bra”.

The Bullet bra was succeeded by silhouette in the 1960s and 1970s when it became selling in the market and people are interested in soft cup bras.

A bullet bra is still in existence today, as it is a symbol of the 1950s. Research shows that Madonna brought the bullet bra back into existence with the Jean-Paul Gaultier-designed costumes she wore for her Blonde Ambition tour in 1990. It is gathered that there are still a few old makers of bullet bras today. There are still types of bullet bra in the market today.
